This Do27, s/n 471, was testflown at the Dornier factory as KD+129 and then delivered to the German Air Force as GA+374 at their transport base in Penzing, Bavaria to be operated by the LTG 61, an air transport wing. Later she was transferred as XB+901 and 57+40 to the testing and training facility for the G91 at Fürstenfeldbruck airbase in Bavaria. 1971-2013 saw her in private use as a parachute dropper with Skydive Kiel. In 2015 she arrived in Paderborn and unterwent a complete restoration. Today she carries the livery of U9-51, the first Do27 of the Spanish Air Force. The Do27 is equipped with a 6 Cylinder Lycoming engine GO-480-B1A6.

D-EKLU was built in 1943 at the Kassel Waldau factory as a tropical version of the type. After the African theater was lost from the Germans the plane was delivered straight to Sweden where it was in use until 1960. After its return to Germany it went through multiple hands before the city of Kassel, its hometown, aquired it. In 2005 some enthusiasts founded the club “Fieseler Storch für Kassel e.V.” and put the Storch through a thorough restoration to new condition. Today it is based in its own brandnew “Gerhard Fieseler Hangar” named after the famous aircraft engineer. Still today the Fieseler Storch is the best known STOL aircraft of all times.

The Fouga Magister is one of the early jet trainers of the German Air Force . Used in the late 50ies and early 60ies many pilots earned their wings on the perfect trainer. It became wellknown in all parts of the world as the Patrouille de France in France and the Red Devils in Belgium used it for their national military display teams. D-IFCC is the last example flying that was built in Germany by Flugunion Süd under license from France and the two Marbore II engines enable the top speed of 700km/hr or .82 Mach.

Antonov AN2 Colt

D-FOKY - Antonov An2

The AN2 ist the biggest Biplane in the world with only one engine. After her maiden flight in 1947 more than 18000 examples were built in Russia, Poland and China. Her robustness paired with a good temper and a high payload and excellent STOL capabilities are the main reasons for her to become the workhorse of its days. Powered by a 1000hp ASch62 radial engine our D-FOKY can be seen cruising the area around Paderborn regularly.

The Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG in Switzerland designed and built the Pilatus P-3 since 1952. Only 72 Planes were built as a trainer for the Swiss Air Force and 6 for the brazilian military. The Brazilian Navy livery is shown on F-AZPU. The P3 was later developed into the Pilatus PC-7, a very well known trainer all over the world.

Boeing Stearman, probably one of the best known biplanes in the world. Designed around the same time like for instance a Bücker Jungmann it is much bigger and heavier although is was to serve the same purpose: basic trainer for the military. While the european planes of the days are more delicate in design and smaller in size in general, the big and heavy Stearman con take quite some more abuse by the students. N3972U is based at Bienenfarm airfield.

Beechcraft BE 50 “Twin Bonanza”

After the overwhelming success of the single engined Bonanza, Beech decided to beef it up some and designed the Model 50 Twin Bonanza. The maiden flight was in 1949 and the BE 50 offered ample space for 6 people and luggage in a spacious cabin and 2 luggage compartments. This BE 50 is equipped with 2 Lycoming GO435-C2 engines and as a 1954 Model the oldest surviving Twin Bonanza. The BE 50 was the first “executive aircraft” and thus laid the foundation for many other planes in that category today.

The production of the famous BELL 47 started in 1946. Until 1962 production saw all kinds of special versions and also licensed manufacturing for insatnce by Westland in the UK. The German military operated 45 Bell 47s well into the 1970s. This particular Bell47G-4 is equipped with a Lycoming engine VO540B1B3 with 305 hp. Most of you will remember the TV series MASH that made the chopper known all over.

The Do27 s/n 389 was built in 1959 and commisioned with the German Army as a commuter plane at the Army bases Niedermendig, Rheine and Bückeburg as PL+423, QM+615, QW+715, QW+111 and 56+81. In the 1980 she went on to the civil register as D-EFOB and was used at the Bad Gandersheim Flying Club until 2018 when she went into private ownership. She is equipped with a Lycoming GO-480-B1A6.

The Piper J3C, the CUB, marks the beginning of a very successful airplane manufacturer that is still alive and kicking today. Used as an observer plane during WW2 the Piper Cub was constantly improved, upgraded, no matter if it was the wings, engine or instrumentation, nothing was spared over the years. Our cub is a 1941 Model with only 65 horsepowers and no starter, it has to be handpropped. Cubs today are very much sought after abd very desirable airplanes.

The Boeing Stearman is a well known and beloved airplane all over the world. Built during the same ages as the Bücker Jungmann she is way bigger and settled. The european airplanes in general were smaller and more delicate, while the Stearman is more forgiving. N9054H can be seen in the Paderborn/Hannover area quite often.

Developed as a tandem seat trainer, the Pilatus P3 was designed and manufactured by the Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG in Switzerland. A total of 72 aircraft were built for the Swiss Airforce while Brasil received 6 trainers. HB-RBY is based at teh Hangar II in Paderborn and carries the livery of the Swiss Airforce. The P3 was the base fpr the PC7, the much more powerful and successful turboprop development.

This Harvard 4 was built in Canada in 1953 as a tandem seat advanced trainer that saw many students during its life. First flight was as TA-543 in USAF colors bevor she came to Germany in 1957 where she flew as AA+068 and BF+063 in Landsberg/Lech to train German Airforce pilots. After her transfer to the Portuguese Airforce on 1964 she was operated in Portugal until 1978. When the Museo do Ar sold the T6 to the UK in 1990 a thorough restoration started leading to her new registration G-BUKY. In 2016 she changed ownership again and since then she is based at Bienenfarm airfield outside of Berlin and since 2019 she carries the new german registration D-FSIX.

This T6 is an early model, built as an AT6C in 1941. Operated by the USAF until 1949 she was then upgraded toa T6G flying in the US until 1958 to continue her service with the Spanish Airforce as E.16.106 thereafter. In the 1990 she was registered in Luxembourg as LX-PAE before she was moved to Germany to receive a full restoration over the course of 4 years. A pleasure to look at now as she is flying as D-FPAE in private ownership

Marcel Jurca is a well known designer in the homebuilt community. He designed quite a number of drwings for the homebuilding scene, some a miniatur warbirds, some as warbirds to the original scale. On of his masterpieces is undoubtetly the MJ80, the exact replica of the Focke Wulff FW190 powered by a Pratt&Whitney PW1830 radial engine delivering a whopping 1200 horsepowers, An engine normally used in DC3s and others. This MJ80 ist the only known to exist and was build by the german glider pilot Uli Bronner over the course of 20 years completely out of wood! It has flown 18 hrs since completion and is based under new ownership at the Hangar II in Paderborn.

SIAI Marchetti FN333 Riviera

The Siai Marchetti FN 333 Riviera is quite a exotic and rare airplane. Designed by the Fratelli Nardi in Italy in the 1950s as a flying boat, it is amphibious and can operate from runways both landside and in the water. The IO470 engine in the back delivers about 260 horsepowers that accelerates the sleek 4 seater to a top speed of about 300 km/h, about 150 kts. Only 26 were ever built with less that half a dozen still known to exist.

The FW44 Stieglitz is hiding nothing ubder a hood. The 7 cylinder radial engine from Siemens-Halske, the SH14, has open valves that allow anybody who takes a closer look the see the engine parts move in operating mode while todays modern engines hide it all.This beautiful Biplane was designed in 1932by chief engineer Kurt Tank, based on the requirements of the well known aerobatic champion of the days, Gerd Achgelis. Focke Wulff in Bremen was the manufacturer of this outstanding design. D-EMNN went through a complete restoration lasting may years and is now bsaed ot the Old Warden airfield in the UK that is also home to the Shuttleworth collection.

The De Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk was originally designed as a tandem seat trainer for the british military. Equipped with a hanging 4 cylinder inline Gipsy Major 10 MKII delivering 145 horsepowers the low wing all metall plane moves quite fast a about 110 kts. This Chipmunk was the first airplane of the QUAX Club and the backbone of the operation for many years., especially to transition the members to tailwheel operation. Since 2015 she is in private ownership og one of our members currently undergoing a complete restoration.

Piaggio FW P149D

The Piaggio P 149D was derived from the earlier P 148 and had its maiden flight on June 19th, 1953. The Piaggio is a high performance airplane with the Lycoming GO-480 engine delivering 275 hp, a constant speed prop and very good flying caracteristics and durability. Used extensively my military operators, the German Airforce was a major customer useing the "Piggi" as a commuter and training plane. All German Airforce Pilots from the 60s through the late 80s flew the Piggi as their first plane during their screening. The bgerman versions were built under license by Focke Wulff in Bremen.

D-EGOS, a 1959 Piaggio FW P149D is yet another Piggi with QUAX. Like all the others she was operated by the Luftwaffe fpr many years before she went into private ownership at the Nienburg-Holzbalge airfield.

Piper PA-18 Super Cub

The Piper PA-18 Super Cub was originally designed as a military trainer and recce plane for the US Military in the 1930s. The pretty much final stage of it's evolution was the Super Cub which had its maiden flight on November 23rd, 1949 which also meant the start of its production run. A classic taildragger the PA 18 became the trainer of choice for many a pilot around the world be it military or civilian. We cherish the solid Piper as a basic trainer to get our members the required tail dragger experience to later move up the steps to fly our other moer sophisticated taildraggers. D-EKAY is a 1952 model that joint our group in 2018 and is operated out of the Bienenfarm airfield.

Twin Bonanza

N978B - Twin Bonanza

This Twin Bonanza is a 1961 Beech D50E, the last model of the legendary Twin Bonanza, powered by two Lycoming GO 480 delivering 295hp each. Carrying almost 630 liters of Avgas she has an endurance of about 6 hrs at a speed of 150 kts, effectively covering about 900 NM with full gas tanks. The plabe was purchased in 2013 in Elkhart, Indiana before she underwent an extensive restauration in Schenectdy, New York and was subsequently ferried to Germany by the mew owner. The ferry flight was documented by german TV station ARD and can be found on the internet as "Der Atlantic Flieger". The Twin Bonanza is based at Dinslaken Schwarze-Heide airfield EDLD.

Beechcraft V35B

D-EECO - Beechcraft V35B

The Beechcraft V 35B Bonanza carrying a very classic V-Tail was designed after WW II as one of the early private use single engine propeller planes and production started with the model 35 in 1947. Constantly improved and upgraded production ran until 1982, when D-EECO, the V 35B as shown here, was equipped with a 285 hp Continental IO 520 enabling a cruise speed of 160 kts. Sofisticated as the whole airplane was, it was equipped for instrument flying and is a reliable commuter to our QUAX events.

Bücker Bü131 C Jungmann

D-EFQP - Bücker Bü131 C Jungmann

D-EFQP was built in 1954 and recovered from the Spanish Air Force. After being decommisioned in 1980 she was ferried to Germany and restored by the Bitz company in Augsburg. This Bücker 131C "Jungmann" is currently based out of Montabaur/Koblenz actually being the only flying Bücker that is based in the hometown of Clemens Bücker.

Meyers 200D

D-ECDW - Meyers 200D

The Aero Commander 200d is the latest model of the famous Meyers 200, one of the fastest single engine pistons in the sixties. The Meyers 200 broke numerous speed records, among them the first ever solo flight around the world in both directions. The fuselage is extremely strong as it is constructed like a cage made of 4130 Chrom Moly steel. Only 127 were ever made duirng the production span and around 20 are believed to be still flying. D-ECDW is the only of its kind flyong in Europe and based in PAD since 2017 as part of the fleet of our members.

The Great Lakes is a sportplane built by the Great Lakes Aircraft Company. It is an open cockpit tandem seat biplane with aerobatic capabilities. They were initially built from 1929 through 1933 and production was restarted in the seventies. "PW" is a copy based on the original blueprints from 1974. in 2018 an extensive restaoration was completed and now you can see here in northern Germany as she is based at Husum airfield.

Die PA-22 Tri-Pacer ist ein viersitziges, abgestützter Schulterdecker, die nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg von der US-amerikanischen Piper Aircraft gebaut wurde. Der Rumpf besteht aus Stahlrohren und die Tragflächen aus einem stoffbespannten Aluminiumrahmen. Viele Tripacer sind aufgrund ihrer Unempfindlichkeit, der geräumigen Kabine und der – zu ihrer Zeit eindrucksvollen – Geschwindigkeit heute noch im Einsatz. Pacer und Tri-Pacer gehören zu einer Gruppe von Piper-Flugzeugen, die „Short Wing Pipers“ genannt wird. Als Antrieb dient ein Lycoming O-320 A2A mit 150 PS (110 kW). Diese Maschine (SN 22-3141) wurde 2012 komplett restauriert und steht am Flugplatz EDLM Marl Lohmühle.

Die Piper PA-18 Super Cub ist ursprünglich ein militärisches Schul- und Aufklärungsflugzeug des US-amerikanischen Flugzeugherstellers Piper Aircraft Corporation, das ab dem Jahr 1949 in Serie hergestellt wurde. Sie ist der Nachfolger der Piper J-3 - wie diese ein Spornradflugzeug - aber weicht von der Konstruktion stark von dem Vorgänger ab. Diese Piper ist ausgestattet mit einem Continental C90 Motor mit 90 PS und Anlasser, einem Mode S Transponder ADSB in and out, Power Flarm mit WLAN Schnittstelle sowie einem VHF Funkgerät und Scheibenbremsen. Sie erreicht eine Reisegeschwindigkeit von 95MPH. In den Tank passen 136 Liter. Die Maschine ist Hauptsächlich in Stadtlohn oder Paderborn.

D-KOKY - Raab Motorkrähe

Die Konstruktion des Motorseglers Raab Krähe wurde im Juni 1957 mit dem Erstflug des Prototypen abgeschlossen. Der Prototyp hatte noch eine Zulassung als Motorflugzeug, da es die Klasse „Motorsegler“ damals noch nicht gab. Die D-KOKY (früher D-KAPA) wurde von 1963 bis 1967 von Max Schmid gebaut. Max Schmid war im zweiten Weltkrieg Flugzeugbauer bei den Gebrüdern Horten und an der Entwicklung der Horten H 229 beteiligt. Dies ist auch ein Grund, warum die von ihm in der Nachkriegszeit gebaute Krähe noch flugfähig und in einem erstklassigen Originalzustand ist. Der Standort ist das Segelfluggelände „Warburg am Heinberg“, 10 Flugminuten südöstlich von EDLP direkt beim VOR WRB.

Die Slingsby T.21 ist ein Übungssegelflugzeug des britischen Herstellers Slingsby Sailplanes Ltd. Sie ist als zweisitziger Hochdecker ausgelegt und besitzt zwei nebeneinander liegende Sitze im offenen Cockpit. Unsere "Old Lady" wurde 1954 gebaut und stand bis 1989 im Dienst der britischen königlichen Luftwaffe. Im Jahr 2007 fand sie über Norwegen ihren Weg nach Brandenburg-Mühlenberg, wo sie in einer Haltergemeinschaft betrieben wird.

D-EMDR - Hummel

Die Siebel Hummel Si202 ist ein weitgehend originalgetreu nachgebautes Holzflugzeug aus 1939. Der Motor ist jetzt ein tschechischer Sternmotor mit 7 Zylindern und 117PS. Mit dem heutigen Kennzeichen DEMDR wurde in den 30er Jahren mit einer Siebel Hummel ein Höhenweltrekord geflogen. Die Lackierung entspricht weitgehend derjenigen Maschine, die als zuletzt gebautes Modell an einen adeligen Privatkunden ging. Von den etwa 65 in Halle an der Saale gebauten Flugzeugen hat keines überlebt. Da es sonst weltweit keine Nachbauten gibt, bietet dieses Flugzeug die einzige Möglichkeit, sich eine Vorstellung vom Original zu machen.

Die Piper PA-16 Clipper ist ein leichtes, einmotoriges Reiseflugzeug mit 4 Sitzen. Die Clipper ist nur 1 Jahr lang gebaut worden und gehört zur Familie der "Piper Short Wing" Flugzeuge. Insgesamt wurden 726 Exemplare gebaut, von denen weltweit nur noch einige wenige betrieben werden - dieses Schätzchen wird von einer HG Kölner Quaxe betrieben und steht am Flugplatz Leverkusen.
