Die Fliegeruhr – the pilots watch – you cannot get on board without one

Interestingly what we refer to as pilots watches today were actually the watches worn by the navigators as they used the watches conbined with the oktant to oinoint the aircrafts position. Precision was paramount even under the harshest conditions. On top of that the wathces had to be easy to read and use. You can definitely call those watches mission critical in those days. Being exact copies of the historic LACO aviation watches from the 1940s todays models combine high precision with unmatched design.

The main features of the LACO pilots watch are the iconic dial, the concise crown, the unmatched closed loop leather wristband and the unmatched surface finish. The so called "heritage" line is about sturdy pilot watches that tell a story and show their remarkable history. Every watch shows individual signs of use and aging thus becoming a unique and authentic piece of history by one of the oldest German watch makers. Some might call it a legend- built by our watchmakers with absolute dedication and worn by our customers with true passion.

HISTORIC WATCHES, TIMELESS APPEARANCE

No matter which LACO Aviators watch you choose, they all carry a legendary history.

One has to realize that in the Germany of the 1940s only a handful of watchmakers were given the authority to produce aviators watches. Laco was one of them. "FL23883" was the code establishing the requirements set by the Reichsluftfahrtministerium, the Ministry of Aviation, that all aviation watches had to fulfill.

This number shows the "navigation equipment" and can be seen on each individual watch on the opposite side of the crown.

Passion creates Legends

There are aviator watches and there is the LACO aviator watch. LACO is one of very few watchmaking companies that can look back at a longb tradition of watchmaking at their Pforzheim factory in Germany. An absolute necessity in the 1940s cockpits, a "LACO" is a pice of freedom in todays world. Not only do you wear an very robust and precise watch, you also wear a piece of history on your wrist.

Looking back at the long and colourful history one realizes that those watches were purposebuilt and tailored for the specific use on bord of airplanes. Robustness, functionality and readability were some of their main features. Absorbing shocks, vibrations pressure changes yet highly usable day and night, all properties that have not lost their appeal in today's world.
