bases

The QUAX Club is unlike other local flying clubs as a nationwide organization with more than one base. Paderborn-Lippstadt Regional Airport serves as our homebase and currently we have 9 more airfields that are considered QUAX bases. No QUAX base close by? No problem really, just ask ThomasThomas what you need to have one at your homebase. We have a short list of requirements to enable any airflield to become a QUAX base.

EDLP - QUAX-Hangar at Paderborn/Lippstadt airport

EDOI - Flugplatz Bienenfarm

The flying season 2018 saw the Bienenfarm airfield going to new owners Flugplatz Bienenfarm. The grassfield on the outskirts of BERLIN in the West was home to QUAX for the last 10 years and is now operated by some of its members. The plan is to establish a flying museum at the idyllic grass field in the beautiful Havelland. Today Bienenfarm is catering for quite a number of annual events already.Quax-Veranstaltungen

EDLS - Stadtlohn-Vreden

For many years now we call the Flugplatz Stadtlohn- Vreden airfield a QUAX base where we also have an airplane based. As the airfield offers a great infrastructure and the area is home to quite a number of our active pilots, the base is well accepted.

EDKL - Leverkusen

Our base in the Rhine valley. We shared good contacts with the Leverkusen aero club for years so it came as no surprise that we finally opened a base there with a permanently based plane there. On top of that our Ka 2b glider is going through an overhaul by our members at the Leverkusen base Luftsportclub Bayer Leverkusen.

EDVK - Kassel-Calden

2019 is the first year for our new vase at the Kassel Calden regional airport. Our friends of the Fieseler Storch Club moved into a brandnew hangar they built for their meticulously restored Fieseler Storch. Fieseler Storch für Kassel e.V. We are really lokking forward to share the hangar with this unique landmark of german aviation, ideally located for pleasure flights in the beuatiful hilly areas around. Kassel Calden(http://www.kassel-airport.aero)offers great opportunities and support for any pilot.

EDFK - Bad Kissingen

EDVT - Ithwiesen

The glider paradise Ithwiesen has a long and colorful history. The first glider jumps happened in 1930, one can't really call them flights yet. Due to the location on top of a hill in the Weserbergland offering handflying and thermals it gained a reputation quickly and lured more and lore glider pilots to the Ith, thats the name of the mountain. Hanna Reitsch, Wolf Hirth or even actor and comedian Loriot learned to fly gliders at the Ith. After WW II took over the installation and offered glider flying to their personnel. In 1956 3 glider clubs, namely Holzminden, Einbeck and Eschershausen aquired an area spanning 32.5 hectars on the southern part of the airfield. in 2009 they all went under one roof, the LSV Ithwiesen. Together with the LSV the QUAX glider section is able to use to wonderful gliderfield. Gliderstarts can be facilitated using the original rubberstrings, a winch or even towing by a motorplane. If you are not familiar with the quite demanding airfield and want to land with a motorplane, the requirement to land at the Ith is at least 100h PIC or a thorough introduction into the pecularities of the Ith. More Infos can be found here:www.Ithwiesen.de.

EDHE - Uetersen

Uetersen Airfield became our latest base, catering for the greater Hamburg area. All our members living in the far North of the country now have access to a QUAX plane being based there on a permanent basis and can enjoy the QUAX life.
